Privacy Policy
Cinefield (the “App”) is published by Thomas Geselle (the “publisher”) for Apple Vision Pro. This policy describes what the App does with data when you use it.
1. Summary
- The publisher does not collect your personal data on publisher-operated servers.
- No advertising, no advertising identifier (IDFA), no third-party analytics.
- The only hosts the App contacts are those you choose (web pages, your media servers) or, if you sign in to Plex with a username and password, plex.tv for that sign-in.
- Machine-learning depth runs entirely on-device.
2. Data stored on the device
The App may keep the following locally in standard app storage (UserDefaults and on-disk caches — not the system Keychain):
- Recently opened titles (names, URLs or file bookmarks, playback position).
- Library pins (files you add from a server browser).
- Media-server configuration: display name, host, port, username, and password or access token.
- Playback preferences (for example the last 3D mode).
- Thumbnails and artwork cached for the Library and Watch Now views.
Server passwords and tokens are stored with that configuration in UserDefaults. You can delete a server (and its secret) or clear recents from the App. Uninstalling the App removes this local data.
3. Network
- Built-in browser: loads the pages you request. A network ad/tracker blocker reduces third-party calls; it is not guaranteed to be complete.
- Web playback: when a stream is sent to the player, the App may attach the browser User-Agent, the full page URL as Referer, and same-site cookies only (cookies whose domain matches the stream host’s registrable domain). Cross-site cookies are never sent. Direct media URLs (the page itself is the file) are requested without those extra headers.
- Media servers: the App connects to the addresses you configure (Jellyfin, Plex, SMB, FTP). Traffic stays between the headset and your server, except as noted for Plex sign-in.
- Plex: if you paste an X-Plex-Token, the App talks to your Plex server only. If you instead use a Plex username and password (no 2FA), the App may send those credentials to plex.tv to obtain a token.
- Local Network: the App requests Local Network permission so it can reach NAS devices and home servers on your LAN.
The publisher does not operate a Cinefield account service, cloud library, or crash-reporting backend.
4. On-device processing
The ML stereo mode runs a depth model (Depth Anything, Core ML) on the device. Video frames used for depth are not uploaded to the publisher.
5. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and the publisher does not knowingly collect their data.
6. Your rights
Because the publisher does not centralize Cinefield user data, access and deletion are done on the device: remove servers and recents in the App, or delete the App. For questions, see Support.
7. Changes
This policy may be updated. The date at the top of this page is authoritative. Material changes may also be noted in the App’s release notes.
